PEACE

Dr. Robert Schuller told of two artists who were commissioned to render a picture depicting peace. One painted a tranquil setting with a mirrored lake that reflected lovely draping trees and a glorious mountain backdrop. Wildflowers filled the surrounding fields while butterflies fluttered about. The scene was picture-perfect. The other artist painted a thunderous waterfall crashing down onto the jagged rocks below. Next to the watefall he painted a tree that leaned precariously over the water's edge. One of the tree limbs stretched out close to the threatening falls. There, on the slender twigs of the limb within inches of harm's way, was a nest. In the nest was a mother bird...asleep. That artists understood that it isn't the absence of problems that demonstrates peace, but being cake to rest in the midst of turmoil and threat.
